Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue and is designed to realign deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.

The depth of the massage is varied depending on the region, degree and type of pain that the client is experiencing at the time of the treatment.

The therapist uses deep muscle compression and friction along the grain of the muscle. The purpose of Deep Tissue Massage is to unstick the fibres of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held tension points; which assists in loosening muscle tissues, releasing toxins from muscles and creating blood and oxygen circulating properly.

This particular massage generally focuses on specific areas and may cause some soreness during and/or after the session. When deep tissue massage is performed the therapist is always to check in with the client on a regular basis to ensure that it is not too painful for the client, on a pain scale of 1 – 10 (1 being lowest and 10 being highest) it should be no more than a 7 for the client. If the massage is done correctly however, you should feel better within a day or two.
